Your route to BA(Hons) degree success

To help students understand the progression route available to BA(Hons) levels through Deltic and the IAM, the following explains the position of the accredited system in relation to the levels of the IAM qualifications.

The key regulatory point to remember is that all qualifications accredited to the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) are identified by their level and not their title.

For instance the IAM qualifications are more commonly referred to by their level: the level 4 Diploma is roughly the equivalent of a first year, and the level 5 Diploma qualification the second year of bachelor’s degree. The equivalency of qualifications is reinforced by various universities offering direct entry and progression onto their degree programmes from IAM qualifications.

Using the Level 4 Diploma in Business and Administrative Management as an example, graduating students can progress to the second year of BA(Hons) Business Management programmes at the University of Worcester or Sheffield Hallam University.

Graduates of the Level 5 Diploma in Business and Administrative Management are accepted, for example, to the third, top-up year of BA(Hons) degree courses at Sheffield Hallam University, the University of Worcestershire and the University of Teesside. The IAM level 4 and 5 Diplomas are also integral elements of the Foundation Degree programme offered by Plymouth City College.

(Please note that in the ever-changing world of UK higher education, these routes may be subject to change. We will be happy to assist with making enquiries about university entry routes for our students. We also suggest that students wishing to take a degree at a specific university ask to see if our qualifications provide for entry at a higher level - considerable savings can be made when compared to first-year university enrolment).
